The High Desert Multi-Service Ambulatory Care Center (HD MACC) is a state-of-the-art health care facility which replaces the existing DHS High Desert Health System campus in West Lancaster built in 1962.
The new, 142,000 square-foot, county Regional Health Center was built at a cost of $141 million. The project spans 15 acres, a cost of nearly $10 million per acre ($141M/15acres), located at the intersection of Avenue I and 3rd Street East in Lancaster. The facility, comprised of three buildings, will provide a broad range of diagnostics and treatment services including adult and pediatric care, urgent care, and outpatient surgery.
L.A. County Supervisor Michael D. Antonovich boasted that the facility was “built on time and under budget.” The grand opening is set for June 23.
It’s incredible, thinking back, that only two years ago this 15 acre site was just vacant land. I’ve followed this project from the very beginning including when L.A. County purchased the land. Below is a 3D video, released nearly two years ago that I’ve watched numerous times with several others, of what the HD MACC would look like. I have to say, they did an amazing job!
