Measure M, the Los Angeles County Traffic Improvement Plan, is a half percent LA County sales tax increase that went into effect July 1st. Measure M also indefinitely extended the Measure R sales tax increase that was approved in 2008. Measure M will likely pay for the 138 improvements just as Measure R paid for the 138 EIR/EIS process. Per a study released by UCLA Anderson School Forecast regarding the taxable sales for Los Angeles County, Metro assumes a county sales tax revenue growth of 3.8% per year through 2040 and 3% thereafter. Measure M is expected to generate over $100 billion over the next 40 years.
