According to the LA Times, Parris stated, "Hopefully, Lancaster will become the largest Chinese corporation area in California. How cool is that? The little town of Lancaster."
The City of Lancaster is receiving a lot of national and international attention for successfully attracting China-based Build Your Dreams (BYD), the world's largest manufacturer of advanced rechargeable batteries, to build two factories in Lancaster. BYD has built the first Chinese automobile factory in the USA in the city of Lancaster and also has plans to build a plant for production of its advanced-technology battery modules.
"Lancaster has advantages. Unlike mayors in bigger cities such as Los Angeles, the mayor of Lancaster can clear red tape quickly, and with little opposition, for favorite projects. He can rush contracts and permits through City Hall in a matter of days or weeks, unlike the years it can take in L.A." -LA Times
"The smart mayors and governors will do what they [Lancaster] did and try to attract the Chinese investment." - Richard Drobnick, USC business professor.
LA County Supervisor, Michael D. Antonovich has been a major ally in helping Parris attract BYD to the area. "It was a fierce competition between Los Angeles and Lancaster. L.A. got the BYD U.S. headquarters, but the factory, and most of the jobs, went to Lancaster." -Michael D. Antonovich, LA County Supervisor
Many of us have seen cities grow and completely change [develop] over time. However, many of us did not profit from the city's growth. Maybe because we didn't know how or maybe because we didn't realize it was developing until it was already developed and too late to benefit. Learn how to recognize growth opportunities and exactly how to personally profit from them. TAKE ACTION: RSVP for our next event.
