Buffett Powers Up - Others To Follow

In April of 2013, Warren Buffett began construction on the world’s largest solar project, Antelope Valley Solar. Just two months ago (February 2014), Buffett completed a portion of the massive, 5,400 acre photovoltaic (PV), project and is already delivering power to the California grid. The more than $2 billion project, which spans nearly 7 miles, is expected to complete December 2015 and generate more than $500 million in regional economic impact. The project straddles the North Los Angeles County and Kern County line in an area recognized as the Alternative Energy Capital of the World due to the vast number of alternative energy projects under construction and planning.

Equally as interesting, last month (March 2014) Warren Buffett released his annual letter to his Berkshire Hathaway (NYSE: BRK-A) (NYSE: BRK-B) shareholders. Here is one quote, not to be missed, from his letter:

“From a standing start nine years ago, MidAmerican now accounts for 7% of the country's wind generation capacity, with more on the way. Our share in solar -- most of which is still in construction – is even larger."

Warren Buffett is widely considered the most successful investor of the 20th century. His holding company Berkshire Hathaway, owns companies like Geico Insurance, Dairy Queen, Fruit of the Loom, and MidAmerican Energy. Berkshire Hathaway (NYSE: BRK-A) is the most expensive stock in the world at a price tag of over $188,000 per share.

There is no doubt others will continue to follow Warren Buffett’s footsteps especially in regards to the ever growing renewable industry. One of the best ways to make money is to invest in high growth areas. To be clear, investing in real estate in a growing area that is receiving billions of dollars in stimulus is a "no brainer".
